The Poker experts have a number of tips for the beginners. First of all, read as much as you can about poker. You can easily get to read some good write ups on the internet. This will familiarize you with the basics of this game.

The truth is that first, you have to master the micro limits, which can be pretty frustrating due to the sheer number of bad beats you could face. Most of the poker players, who are serious about the game, will beat these limits pretty quickly and easily. Herein, we will discuss common errors that new players make, when starting to play the game, along with the quick tips which can come handy.

* Play Tight

At the microstates up to $10 buying cash games, some beginner players are largely clueless and they can be a pray every now and then for a more experienced player. Make a habit of only playing good/premium hands as it just makes playing post flop so much easier. You will really find yourself in fewer troublesome spots after this. For an instance, if you play a marginal hand like K5 and the flop comes KJT, then you are put in a troublesome spot because your opponents can have better Kings, like K9 or even 2 pair combos like JT, KJ, etc.

* Never limp, instead always raise

Beginner players often tend to limp preflop, which is the number one way of identifying a bad player. Limping means that you apparently get involved in an un-raised pot, by calling one big blind (BB). It is better to raise as you are playing very tight and will only play good hands. Therefore, by raising you can avoid seeing a flop against 4-5 opponents.

Top pair / top kicker

One of the hands which occurs most often, is a hand in which you hit top pair and have the best kicker, and you pick up the pot. Be aware, if the pot ends up getting big and there is a lot of action, then your top pair might not be the best hand. An example of it is AQ on a flop of Q58.

Two pair and sets

You can often win big pots if you flop 2 pair and the opponent hits top pair, especially on microlimits. Bottom 2 pair can easily be counterfeit, so you should try to build a big pot early on.

A pocket pair of 2’s may not look too spectacular before the flop but these low pairs are profitable hands. The odds of flopping a set, or better with a pocket pair, are 11, 75% or about 1 in 8 times. When you do hit your set, you will probably end up winning most or even all of your opponent’s stacks. So, bet accordingly and do not ’slow play’ it. You have a massive hand so; you should try to build a massive pot.

These are just a few tips for a good poker game. Well, everybody makes a good player with experience and if he learns from his mistakes.

‘Poker’ is a game loved and played dearly by many people around the world. No new technology, no new video game or new gadget has been able to take this game’s place. There are definitely different ways to play the famous poker. But, before you go and play it, you must know the basic rules which always apply in every Poker game. Let us have a look at these basics and rules herein.

Usually, the poker players play for ‘money’ but this is not for free. They all have to contribute also. In other terms, we can say that they have to invest first to play it. This means they have to contribute to the pot which contains the poker chips. Each chip has its own assigned money value.

The game starts when cards are distributed to each and every player. The distributed cards make up the ‘hand’ and mostly, the cards are only visible to the player who receives them.

When the players receive cards, they have to bet. The bets depend on how good their hand is. This stage is called ‘the betting round’. A deck has total 52 cards. There are precisely four suits and 13 ranks in a deck. These suits are hearts, diamonds, spades and club. Moreover, the 13 ranks are ace, being the highest card, while two (also called as deuce) is the lowest.

A ‘hand is made up of five cards and can fall within any category, for an instance, flush, straight or two pair. A poker game has to be played by at least two players. The king, the queen and the jack are picture cards. They are also called as the face cards. Making a wager or in simple words, putting a bet is imperative after the cards are distributed. This means to continue playing, you have to pay. As more cards are given, the players have the option of betting more money after a round of cards. The standard poker rules dictate that a player plays only for himself, which means he really cannot partner up with someone else.

It goes without saying that each player’s goal is to win the money collected in the pot. There are two ways of achieving the same. You can either have the highest ranking hand during showdown, or you can be the last player. This means you should be still playing after everyone else has backed out. If this happens, then there is really no need for a showdown, as you are automatically the winner.
